Tom’s was founded by two Johns, who have been lifelong friends. So why would they call it “Tom’s”, instead of Juicy John’s BBQ? It’s in homage to “Big John’s” late grandfather Athanasios “Tom” Dragatsikas who first got the family into the restaurant industry in the 1970’s. He made the pilgrimage from his home of Kozani, Greece, where he owned a Tavern, picked up a job in downtown Allentown dishwashing, and later purchased the diner the “All American” which was located on 9th and Linden streets. He taught John the value of hard work, entrepreneurship, and how to make a whole lot of something from nothing. Their love of food and passion for service can be seen daily when you first enter the doors. Every detail has been carefully orchestrated to ensure your best dining experience.
Everything is made from scratch, fresh, and at its best. Our sauces, sides, and hours-long smoked meats are top quality, and our restaurant is Certified Gold Angus, ensuring our BBQ is the best this side of the Mississippi. That’s the good news… The bad news, once we run out of food that’s all there is. We do this because our customers are our focus, and we provide fresh, scratch-made food, that is not reheated and leftover. We buy top quality products; provide top quality food, and our portions are larger than life. Did we forget to mention we have a full bar all day long, and have the area’s premier Bourbon selection?
